Travel Video Awards to Debut at 2018 NAB Show

-- New awards show honors travel filmmaking from around the globe --

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- The Travel Video Awards (TVAs) will debut at the 2018 NAB Show on April 11 in Las Vegas. Created by Citizine Networks, Inc., the awards honor innovative and inspiring travel videos released in 2017 by independent filmmakers, the travel industry, media companies and lifestyle brands.

“The trillion-dollar travel industry is fueled by a consumer base that uses video over 70 percent of the time when making travel decisions,” said Citizine Founder and CEO Philip DeBevoise. “Travel videos are a powerful marketing tool, similar to what music videos are for the music industry– highly engaging content that leads to transactions. As MTV created the Video Music Awards (VMAs) to honor the creative work of the music industry, the TVAs seek to do the same for the travel industry.”

The annual NAB Show attracts more than 100,000 media, entertainment and technology professionals from around the world and will serve as the presenting sponsor of the inaugural awards program.

The TVAs recognize a variety of distinguished cinematic and cutting-edge digital video content within two tracks. Self-financed projects will be recognized within the Independent Track. Projects from the travel industry, lifestyle brands and media companies will be recognized in the Industry Track. Winners from each track will receive distinction awards. Additionally, winners of the Nomad Award and two Audience Awards will receive cash prizes.

“Content creators come to NAB Show year after year to elevate their craft and discover the solutions fueling the next generation of audio and video creatives," said NAB Executive Vice President of Conventions and Business Operations Chris Brown. “This year, we are pleased to welcome the inaugural Travel Video Awards to showcase the ‘best of the best’ within a growing community of filmmakers and brands that are combining their passion for travel with their love for storytelling.”

All video submissions must have aired or been digitally published between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017. The submission deadline is February 25. Additional information is available here.
