WASHINGTON, D.C. -- This year’s NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show will be hosted by acclaimed on-air personality Scott Shannon. The event will take place September 22 at the 2016 Radio Show, produced by the National Association of Broadcasters and Radio Advertising Bureau, and held at the Omni Nashville Hotel. The Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show is sponsored by HD Radio(TM) Technology, a DTS Solution.
Shannon currently serves as the morning drive host for New York’s WCBS-FM. His career has spanned more than four decades, and he is credited for developing the popular “Morning Zoo” format for morning shows. Prior to his current position, Shannon helped develop the legendary New York station WHTZ-FM and co-hosted the morning show at WPLJ-FM for 22 years. He is also the creator of the round-the-clock “True Oldies” channel, currently distributed by United Stations.
“Scott Shannon is an icon in Radio and one of the best dressed Radio personalities,” said NAB Executive Vice President of Radio John David. “His unique style and engaging personality add prestige to this year’s Marconi Radio Awards.”
In addition to his radio career, Shannon has hosted music-oriented television programs, serving as an original media personality on VH1. In 2003, he was inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame and in 2010 received an NAB Marconi Radio Award. In 2006, Shannon was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame and is also featured at the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities that recognize excellence in radio. Winners will be announced at the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show.
