International News Correspondent Lara Logan to Headline Radio Luncheon at 2015 Radio Show

WASHINGTON, D.C./NEW YORK -- Award-winning CBS news correspondent Lara Logan will be the featured speaker at the Radio Luncheon, held September 30 during the Radio Show and sponsored by NextRadio. Logan’s address will provide insight on her experiences as a leading international news reporter. The 2015 Radio Show, produced by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), is held September 30 – October 2 in Atlanta.

Logan began contributing to CBS News’ “60 Minutes” in 2005. She was named CBS News chief foreign correspondent in February 2006 and chief foreign affairs correspondent in 2008. Logan was named a full-time "60 Minutes" correspondent in May 2012.

“Lara Logan is a brilliant example of informative and compelling news reporting," said RAB President and CEO Erica Farber. "Her accounts of life in some of the world’s most dangerous places and situations and the personal struggles she has faced will surely captivate and inspire Radio Luncheon attendees.”

Logan has provided in-depth coverage of some of the most significant events of modern times. Examples include reporting from the frontlines of Afghanistan during the search for Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden, when a military vehicle in which she was riding hit a double-tank mine. Logan’s reports were an integral part of CBS News’ coverage of the war in Iraq, where she was stationed for nearly five years. In February 2011, Logan was brutally assaulted while providing coverage of the Egyptian Revolution in Tahrir Square. More recently, she has reported on the Ebola crisis in Liberia, interviewed Jack Ma, founder of the giant Chinese Internet company Alibaba, and covered the inspiring story of wounded veterans climbing some of the world’s tallest peaks.

Logan received an Emmy Award, an Overseas Press Club Award and a Murrow Award for "Ramadi: On the Front Line," a powerful 2006 report on American troops under fire in Ramadi. She has also received five American Women in Radio and Television Gracie Awards: in 2008 for Outstanding Feature-Hard News; in 2004 for Individual Achievement for Best Reporter/Correspondent; in 2003 for Best News Story for her CBS Evening News report on the attempted assassination of Afghan President Hamid Kharzi; in 2002 for Best News Story for her CBS News Radio coverage of the war in Afghanistan; and in 2000 for Best News Story for her CBS News Radio coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She received the David Bloom Award in 2008 from the Radio & Television Correspondents Association for excellence in enterprise reporting and the 2007 Association of International Broadcasters' Best International News Story Award for her report on the Taliban.

As previously announced, George G. Beasley, chairman, chief executive officer and founder of Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc., will receive the National Radio Award during the Radio Luncheon.
