NAB Statement on House Subcommittee Markup of the American Privacy Rights Act

Washington, D.C. – NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt issued the following statement in response to the markup of the American Privacy Rights Act:

"NAB appreciates the bipartisan efforts of House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-5), Ranking Member Frank Pallone (NJ-6), Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee Chair Gus Bilirakis (FL-12) and Subcommittee Ranking Member Jan Schakowsky (IL-9) in advancing the American Privacy Rights Act. This marks a significant step forward in providing essential legal clarity for America’s broadcasters amidst a landscape of varied state laws governing online engagement. As the influence of Big Tech companies remains largely unchecked, we appreciate these congressional leaders for their bipartisan efforts to foster a more sustainable digital environment for local journalism. We look forward to working closely with them as this legislation progresses."
