WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to the FIRST STEP Act, the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:
“NAB supports the FIRST STEP Act, which will enhance fairness in prison sentences and better enable rehabilitated individuals to re-enter their communities, contribute to the workforce, and become productive members of society. Meaningful job training that increases employment opportunities will combat recidivism and reduce crime. NAB endorses this bipartisan legislation that is designed to make a real and positive difference for tens of thousands of post-incarceration Americans.”
