NAB Show to Host Symposium at Mobile World Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- NAB Show will present a two-day symposium, "NAB Show @ Mobile World Congress: Capturing the Moment Through Mobile and Broadcast," as part of the mPowered Industries program at the 2014 Mobile World Congress. The symposium, sponsored by Ericsson, will be held February 25-26, 2014 in Barcelona.

NAB Show @ Mobile World Congress will address how the production of live events capture newsworthy moments that generate attention in a media landscape dominated by unlimited content options and viewers with relatively short attention spans. Live sports, political events, world news and natural disasters are critical moments for broadcast and mobile operators, as audiences expect immediate access. Advances in networks, mobile devices, social networks, and apps have given individual people new ways to consume, create, share, participate with, and experience live events.

The program will begin with a keynote address by James McQuivey, Ph.D., of Forrester Research, who is the premier analyst studying the impact of and new business opportunities created by the digital disruption. Speakers who are experts in broadcasting and mobile technologies will demonstrate how broadcasters and wireless providers can work together to expand business opportunities and to satisfy future consumer expectations.

NAB Labs, the technology division of the National Association of Broadcasters, will present "Hybrid Broadcasting: An Evolution of Radio & Television," a session on the merging of traditional broadcast and the Web. Other sessions include "The Anywhere Anytime Connected Consumer," "The Digital Dashboard and Broadcast Media" and "Using LTE and HD Voice to Deliver Content." Another session entitled "Media Technologies & The Cloud" will address content collaboration, security and reliability of cloud services for broadcast and mobile media, highlighting the advantages of these cost-saving technologies.

"We look forward to our participation in Mobile World Congress as NAB Show continues to propagate the global conversation around technology as it relates to media and entertainment," said Chris Brown, executive vice president, Conventions and Business Operations at NAB. "We've developed this symposium to succinctly address developments and solutions that are leading to evolving business models and enhanced global business opportunities in broadcasting, digital media and entertainment."
