WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to passage of the "Innovation Act of 2013" yesterday by the House Judiciary Committee by a 33-5 vote, the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:
"NAB congratulates Chairman Robert Goodlatte (R-VA) and his House Judiciary Committee colleagues for passing the 'Innovation Act of 2013' with a strong, bipartisan majority out of committee. The Innovation Act's legislative progress marks another step forward in addressing the harms caused to both the economy and our patent system by so-called 'patent trolls'. America's hometown broadcasters will continue to work with Chairman Goodlatte and members of both parties to ensure swift passage by the full House of Representatives of this important, pro-growth legislation."
