WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to the Federal Communications Commission's approval of T-Mobile's attempt to acquire MetroPCS, the following statement can be attributed to NAB Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning Rick Kaplan:
"NAB is very pleased that the FCC today approved T-Mobile's acquisition of MetroPCS. As NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith stated in his letter to the Chairman urging that the Commission swiftly approve the transaction, we applaud the wireless industry's efforts to rationalize its substantial spectrum holdings, and this deal is another market-based step in the process of meeting the demand for data."
