WASHINGTON -- NAB and RTDNA announced today an extended two-year agreement under which RTDNA will produce a day of programming to be held at the NAB Show in Las Vegas in 2011 and 2012. The programming will focus on training for news managers to help them improve their newsgathering, decision making, leadership and digital skills for the newsroom.
RTDNA is also in continued talks with the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) to hold a joint convention in the Fall of 2011. A city for the conference, as well as specifics of programming the event, are still being discussed and should be released shortly.
"Continuing our partnership with the NAB allows us to continue to fulfill our mission to train and educate journalists in the best practices possible. And more than that, it allows us to share those best practices at a place where many of our members will already be. Staying put in Las Vegas with these programs to offer, as well as reaching out with more convention and conference opportunities around the country multiple times a year, means RTDNA can reach more people and do so at a lower cost of time and money to them. It's the perfect prescription for these belt-tightened times in our business, " said Stacey Woelfel, Chairman of RTDNA.
RTDNA will hold its annual RTDNA@NAB convention April 11-14, 2010, in conjunction with the NAB Convention in Las Vegas. This convention will be the last multi-day convention held in conjunction with the NAB Show.
"NAB is delighted to continue our relationship with RTDNA at the NAB Show through 2012," said NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith. "NAB strives to provide our attendees with the highest-quality convention experience possible and having our news director friends under the NAB banner is part of that commitment."
