WASHINGTON, DC -- The National Association of Broadcasters today placed an advertisement in two D.C. political publications, Roll Call and Congressional Quarterly, thanking the nearly 300 lawmakers who have cosponsored the Local Radio Freedom Act , a bipartisan resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local radio stations for music aired free to listeners.
Supported by a bipartisan group of 252 House lawmakers and 27 U.S. Senators, the Local Radio Freedom Act counters efforts led by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) to levy a new fee on radio stations for music aired free to listeners.
