WASHINGTON, DC NAB President and CEO David K. Rehr announced today that Janet McGregor will join the organization on November 3 as chief operating and financial officer.
McGregor will oversee the financial operations and investments for the nation's premier broadcaster advocacy group, and will also be responsible for the following NAB departments: Conventions and Business Operations, Science and Technology, Information Technology and Administration. She will also assist in helping the Television and Radio departments grow membership.
Prior to joining NAB, McGregor worked for 26 years at Lockheed Martin Corporation, most recently as president and chief executive officer of the Lockheed Martin Investment Management Company. In that role, she oversaw the investment of Lockheed's pension assets. Prior to that, McGregor served as vice president and treasurer for the aerospace and defense corporation.
"Janet's experience and abilities will greatly benefit our organization, employees and the broadcast stations and networks for which we advocate," said NAB President and CEO David K. Rehr. "I am looking forward to her leadership on the executive team and the guidance and expertise she brings from her years of experience in the private sector."
The expansion of the position to include overseeing operations is part of a strategic restructuring Rehr and NAB's Executive Committee have initiated to ensure that in these challenging economic times, the association's finances remain strong.
"Our number one priority is to be the strongest advocate for broadcasters on Capitol Hill and before the FCC and other agencies," Rehr said. "That means ensuring that NAB's resources are solid and sustaining well into the future. Janet's immense experience and financial expertise will serve the association well."
In 1979, McGregor started her career in the treasurers' organization of the Martin Marietta Corporation, which later merged with Lockheed Martin. In 1992 she was named treasurer of Martin Marietta and in 1996 McGregor was named to an operating position as vice president of finance (CFO) for Lockheed Martin's Electronics Sector. In 1999 she returned to the corporate staff as vice president and treasurer for the Bethesda, Maryland based company.
McGregor has experience in business strategy, financial planning, contract negotiations, governance and capital markets. She received her Masters degree in Business Administration from American University and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky.
