WASHINGTON,
DC -- The NAB Radio Show will include a session discussing the technical
and legal regulations broadcasters need to know when renting out AM
tower space. Garrison Cavell, president of Cavell Mertz & Associates,
and Erwin Krasnow, chair of the Communications and Technology Group
at Garvey Schubert Barer, will lead the discussion held Wednesday, September
17 in Austin.
Titled "Renting
AM Towers to Non-Broadcasters - Practical Tips for Managers and Engineers,"
the session will examine how the growth of mobile communications technologies
has led to a worldwide demand for tower space, creating additional revenue
opportunities for radio stations. During the session, managers and engineers
will learn how to prepare their stations for shared tower use, as presenters
Cavell and Krasnow discuss the technical and legal issues broadcasters
need to know before renting out their AM tower space.
Cavell has published several articles on the technical aspects of broadcasting during his 30-year career. He was the contributing author for the 2007 NAB Engineering Handbook, and has participated in a variety of NAB programs, serving as lecturer for the NAB's Broadcast Technology and Engineering Internship Program, and as a participant in the NAB Educational Foundation's (NABEF) Ownership Forum and its Counsel of Professionals. Cavell is currently on the faculty of NABEF's Broadcast Leadership Training, and is senior past president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Broadcast Technology Society.
Described

Financial Journal and "a super lawyer of communications"
by American Film Magazine, Krasnow has represented sellers and
buyers of broadcasting, tower, and telecommunications properties in
transactions totaling in excess of $21 billion. One of the original
