Washington, D.C. – State broadcasters associations representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico adopted today a resolution that supports bipartisan legislation to protect the voice and visual likenesses of all individuals from unauthorized computer-generated recreations using generative artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies.
The resolution urges members of Congress to support the Nurture Originals, Foster Art, and Keep Entertainment Safe (“NO FAKES”) Act of 2026. The legislation would address the use of non-consensual digital replications in audiovisual works, images and sound recordings.
“NAB and broadcasters across the country support the NO FAKES Act because it helps protect what matters most: trust,” said NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt. “Local broadcasters work every day to earn the confidence of their communities, and unauthorized AI-generated replicas threaten that trust. This bipartisan legislation provides important safeguards against harmful deepfakes while supporting responsible innovation.”
The National Association of Broadcasters is the premier advocacy association for America's broadcasters. NAB advances radio and television interests in legislative, regulatory and public affairs.
