NAB Statement on Passage of S.J. 28

WASHINGTON, DC – NAB Executive Vice President of Media Relations Dennis Wharton issued the following statement today in response to last night's Senate passage of Senate Joint Resolution 28, which rescinded the Federal Communications Commission's modest change to a rule created in 1975 known as the newspaper/broadcast cross-ownership rule.

Responding today, Wharton said:

"NAB strongly opposes efforts to overturn the FCC's exceedingly modest reforms made to media ownership rules. We are hopeful that policymakers ultimately come to fully appreciate the seismic changes in the media landscape over the last three decades, and stand down on this unnecessary proposal."
