We Are Educating Viewers About Moving Frequencies

Nearly 1,000 stations are moving frequencies now through 2020 as part of the spectrum repacking process. NAB has launched the TV Answers campaign to help prepare viewers for these changes coming to local TV. NAB is providing stations with resources to help inform their viewers at TVAnswers.org/tools, including a checklist of activities to ensure stations are meeting FCC education requirements, talking points, sample scripts and customizable spots in English and Spanish that instruct viewers how to rescan their TVs and converter boxes. Viewers can visit TVAnswers.org to learn if and when their local stations are moving frequencies and how to rescan their televisions. Working with local broadcasters across the country, NAB is helping spread the word and touching tens of millions of viewers educating them to #PlantoRescan through educational tools and resources for stations, including social media and on-air spots in English and Spanish.

We Are Informing Legislators of Broadcasters' Vital Role

The We Are Broadcasters campaign entered its fifth year, reminding legislators and constituents of broadcasters’ vital role in our local communities as investigative journalists, first informers and innovators. Stations across the country continued to run We Are Broadcasters radio and TV spots highlighting the big difference between broadcast stations and other sources of information. America’s Stories featured on WeAreBroadcasters.com highlights how stations are covering the critical issues that are important to our communities. A weekly feature – Last Week in America – showcases the breadth of reporting by broadcasters on issues as impactful as opioids and addiction to the lighthearted side of covering little league baseball. When Americans seek a trusted news source they know they can always rely on local radio and television stations and their network partners. Stations also engaged in the campaign on social by sharing the different ways they served their communities in 2018 using #WeAreBroadcasters.

We Are Highlighting Ways Stations Serve Their Communities

During Service to America Week in June and again during the holiday season, broadcasters across the country took to social media to share their favorite public service projects and activities using the hashtag #BroadcastGood, reminding policymakers and their constituents of local stations’ vital role in local communities. Broadcasters’ engagement resulted in tens of thousands of social posts demonstrating the power of local broadcasters coming together to send a unified message about their incredible community service. NAB amplified these social media messages to policymakers and their staff.

We Are Shifting to Our New Headquarters in 2019

NAB staff is looking forward to the fall 2019 move of its headquarters to 1 M St., SE, a "gateway" to the vibrant Capitol Riverfront section of Washington, D.C. The building will be based exactly one mile from the U.S. Capitol and two blocks from the Washington Nationals baseball stadium. The new headquarters will be a showcase venue for radio and television stations across the country and will send a strong message to policymakers on the vibrant future of local broadcasting.
