NAB Show Highlights
The 2023 NAB Show drew over 64,600 participants from more than 160 countries to Las Vegas in April, commemorating a significant centennial milestone for the event. From creation to consumption, across multiple platforms, NAB Show is where global visionaries convene to bring content to life in new and exciting ways.
On the expansive show floor, more than 1,200 companies exhibited to showcase advancements across four thoughtfully curated collections:
- Create: Covering pre-production to post-production.
- Connect: Focused on distribution and delivery.
- Capitalize: Addressing reach and return on investment (ROI).
- Intelligent Content: Encompassing data, AI and automation.
Each section featured dedicated spaces exploring inspiration, innovation and implementation through theater presentations, hand-on demos and facilitated networking. Key show floor destinations also included ATSC 3.0 Pavilion, the NEW CineCentral and Futures Park powered by NAB PILOT.
Television and radio broadcasters enjoyed an unparalleled lineup of more than 100 customized sessions, events and networking opportunities covering the trends in 5G, in-vehicle infotainment, fan engagement strategies, reaching new audiences, use of AI, leveraging data and analytics to inform business decisions, and more.
Highlights included:
- The new Broadcast District for TV and radio broadcasters to enjoy a curated experience featuring education sessions, networking and special events.
- NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt's annual state of the industry address.
- As well as dedicated programming in the Broadcast Engineering and IT Conference, the NAB Diversity Symposium, the Focus on Leadership Speaker Series and the Small and Medium Market Radio Forum.
Awards
Industry icons were honored and celebrated throughout the week.
- Broadcasting Hall of Fame inductees
- Radio: Adrian "Stretch Armstrong" Bartos and Bobbito Garcia, who came to fame hosting "Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show" at Columbia University's WKCR-FM in the 1990s where they launched the careers of superstar artists such as Jay Z, Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, The Notorious B.I.G and Eminem.
- Television: Long-running "ABC's Wide World of Sports", which aired on ABC from 1961-1998.
- Digital Leadership Award: Lora Dennis, executive vice president of Digital Media for NBCUniversal Local
- Radio Engineering Achievement Award: Michael Cooney, chief technology officer, Beasley Media Group
- Television Engineering Achievement Award: H. Douglas Lung, vice president, Broadcast Technology, NBCUniversal Local
