NAB Launches Future of TV Initiative
In April, NAB launched the Future of Television Initiative, which was announced by FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel at the 2023 NAB Show. NAB is leading this public-private partnership to ensure a smooth transition to ATSC 3.0 for broadcasters, other associated industries and, most importantly, the American public.
- "We are excited to work closely with all stakeholders, including the FCC, to bring Next Gen TV and all of its benefits to all viewers," said NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt. "We commend the chairwoman, her staff and the Media Bureau for the hard work they have put into making this collaborative effort a reality."
- The Future of Television Initiative is organized into three working groups, each designed to address critical components of the transition, including existing hardware, the technical aspects of executing the transition, and other regulatory issues implicated by the evolution in broadcasting standards.
Why it matters:
NAB and broadcasters will continue to work tirelessly to pave the way for this exciting new technology, which will revolutionize the way viewers consume broadcast content and enable local stations to better serve their communities.
