1. Broadcasters Convene in D.C. for State Leadership Conference
Over 550 radio and television broadcasters from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C., this week for NAB’s annual State Leadership Conference (SLC).
Emceed by Emmy award winning journalist Michelle Marsh from WJLA-TV, the event gave broadcasters a chance to hear panel discussions and briefings from policymakers and NAB staff before traveling to Capitol Hill to meet their legislators.
Speakers included Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson (LA-4), Sen. Ben Ray Luján (NM) and FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez.
SLC attendees also met with their members of Congress on Capitol Hill to discuss the Broadcasters’ Policy Agenda for the remainder of the 118th Congress, including the AM for Every Vehicle Act, the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act and the Local Radio Freedom Act.
2. AM For Every Vehicle Act Supported by Majority of House
The AM For Every Vehicle Act now has over 218 cosponsors in the House of Representatives.
What does this mean? A bipartisan majority of the House of Representatives supports legislation to ensure Americans who depend on AM radio each month for news, entertainment and critical safety information can continue to have access to this reliable communications medium.
đź“– What is it? An overview of the most important policy issues facing local radio and television stations during the remainder of the 118th Congress that will be shared with every legislator.
