The House of Representatives has passed the Protect Reporters from Exploitative State Spying Act (PRESS Act).
"NAB applauds the House for passing the PRESS Act, underscoring the vital importance of freedom of the press. This legislation acknowledges the critical role of journalists in our democracy – from exposing injustices to educating and informing the public," said NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt.
2. New Report Spotlights Importance of AM Radio
NAB has released a new report that details AM radio’s critical role in protecting the safety of Americans.
The big picture: During emergencies, AM radio serves local communities through the dissemination of emergency alert signals and by providing a reliable source of trusted news.
“When disaster strikes, AM radio has proven time and again its invaluable role as a source of factual, authoritative, up-to-the-minute information that saves lives,” said NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt.
Momentum is building: The AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, bipartisan legislation that will ensure continued access to this reliable communications medium, now has the support of 200 cosponsors in the House of Representatives.
