1. NAB President and CEO Testifies on AI’s Impact
Earlier this week, NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology and the Law at a hearing titled “Oversight of A.I.: The Future of Journalism.”
The key points: LeGeyt spoke about broadcasting’s embrace of AI tools to help deliver breaking news and emergency information, as well as the potential risks stations face as they lose control over the use of their content.
“America’s broadcasters are extremely proud of the role we play in serving your constituents, and we are eager to embrace AI when it can be harnessed to enhance that critical role. However, as we have seen in the cautionary tale of Big Tech, exploitation of new technologies can undermine local news. This subcommittee is wise to keep a close eye on AI, as well as the way our current laws are applied to it,” LeGeyt said.

3. LeGeyt Named Radio Executive of the Year
Radio Ink has named NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt radio executive of the year.
“From the time he took the helm at the NAB, Curtis has proven to be an exemplary leader. In addition to bringing together and leading the radio industry in support of keeping AM radio in the nation’s vehicles, he continues to shape the National Association of Broadcasters into one of the most effective lobbying and advocacy organizations in the country,” said Lainie Petersen, editor of Radio Ink.
Sen. Ed Markey (MA) said, “Curtis LeGeyt and NAB have been essential partners in preserving AM radio and advancing my AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. As automakers turn their backs on broadcast AM radio, Curtis and NAB have had the backs of broadcasters around the country. Thanks to that support, I am confident that Congress will pass my bill and ensure this accessible and reliable communication channel remains in vehicles for years to come.”
