Senator Ted Cruz represents the state of Texas in the United State Senate. A lifelong Texan, Senator Cruz worked as an attorney at the Department of Justice and at the Federal Trade Commission and served as the Solicitor General of Texas before being elected to the United State Senate in 2012. Senator Cruz began his third term in the Senate earlier this year when he also became the Chairman of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, which specifically oversees telecommunications and media issues as well as a broad swath of other sectors. A longtime champion of local broadcasters and the First Amendment, Senator Cruz is also serves on the Judiciary Committee as well as the Armed Services Committee.
