The show’s themes drew from the lands of Disney’s theme park: Adventureland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Frontierland. Whether it was Davy Crockett, nature-inspired programming, fairy tales or man in space, Disney transported us from our living room to other worlds and times.
The show having had a home on ABC, NBC, CBS and then back to ABC is a testament to the enduring value and success of the series. This treasured family ritual has only had two hosts: Walt Disney himself from 1954-1966 and, since 1986, chairman and CEO Michael Eisner. Whatever its name and wherever it’s found on the dial, this beloved program has delighted generations with its quality, award-winning programming.
