LONGEST RUNNING TV PROGRAM
“Meet the Press” is American’s opportunity to meet national and international politicians, religious leaders, newsmakers, sports figures, and entertainers.
2007 TV INDUCTEE
After two years on radio, it made its television network debut on NBC on November 6, 1947. With this announcement, television news was changed indelibly, establishing the bar by which all news shows are measured.
The hallmark of the program is that questions are asked with integrity and respect. It is a thoughtful exchange of ideas, sometimes tense, occasionally humorous but always fair and civilized. There have been only 10 moderators: Lawrence Spivak, Martha Rountree, Ned Brooks, Bill Monroe, Marvin Kalb, Roger Mudd, Chris Wallace, Garrick Utley, Tim Russert and the current custodian, Chuck Todd.
