THE GREAT AMERICAN INTERROGATOR
Talk show host Larry King got his start at radio stations WKAT and WIOD in Miami. In 1978, he went national with the Mutual Broadcasting System. Soon, “The Larry King Show” had a nightly audience of over 3.5 million people. The appeal is quintessentially American. Larry King is at home with everyone, both listeners and guests.
1992 RADIO INDUCTEE
I shun too much preparation. I don't want to know the answer to a question I'm going to ask. I like to be surprised.
LARRY KING
In his off-the-cuff interviews -- often with little research -- King seems curious, charming, and at times, naive. It’s his tactic to draw out the answers we all want to hear.
After 60 years of interviews, his is the voice of an old friend, someone chatting amicably with us over coffee, someone who’s just introduced us to Richard Nixon, H. Ross Perot or Ronald Reagan. Like all good radio, Larry King brings something special into our lives.
