COMEDIC "STRAIGHT MAN"
Using standup patter and running gags, George Burns and Gracie Allen entertained listeners during the 1930s and ‘40s. With a cigar as his trademark, Burns played straight man to his wife’s antics. He directed laughs her way with his impeccably timed, gravel-voiced asides to audiences.
