Bob Keeshan is best known for creating and portraying “Captain Kangaroo,” which ran on CBS for 30 years, making it the industry’s longest running network children’s program. The American public met Captain Kangaroo for the first time on October 3, 1955, and he remained just as fresh in 1993 as he was on opening day.

Keeshan believed kids deserved the best and constantly reexamined the most basic elements of his program, never shrinking from change or retreating from his core principles and high standards.
