LANDMARK TELEVISION COMEDY


Premiering in 1971, CBS’ “All in the Family” was a landmark television comedy that for nine seasons explored new ground with one of the most beloved families in television history, the Bunkers. Created and produced by Norman Lear, it starred Carrol O’Connor (Archie Bunker), Jean Stapleton (Edith Bunker), Sally Struthers (Gloria Bunker Stivic) and Rob Reiner (Mike Stivic).

The Bunker family and friends led us on a hilarious and often quite moving exploration of American attitudes in the midst of social change. It exemplified television’s unique ability to make the viewer see familiar things in new ways. “All in the Family” changed American television forever - it made it better.
