Liliana Rañón

With a unique blend of community advocacy and public policy expertise, Liliana Rañón brings over a decade of federal government, private and nonprofit sector experience driving stakeholder engagement to broaden program impact, advance policy priorities and drive awareness of organization’s goals.

As Vice President of External Affairs at the National Association of Broadcasters, Liliana leads engagement of third-party groups on legislative and regulatory issues affecting local broadcasters. By strengthening existing partnerships and cultivating new relationships, Liliana continues to build industry support for NAB’s legislative and regulatory agenda.

Managing the community team while at the Obama Foundation, Liliana orchestrated the development and implementation of the team’s engagement strategy. In this role, Liliana implemented foundation-wide priorities focused on fostering partnerships with mission-aligned community stakeholders (institutions, organizations and civic leaders) who were committed to educating, inspiring and mentoring young adults into being civically involved.

Within the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team while at Univision Communications Inc., Liliana spearheaded Univision's health and wellness initiatives outlined in Univision’s Community Empowerment Platform. As the Director of Community Empowerment, Liliana cultivated and managed strategic partnerships with national organizations whose priorities aligned with Univision's CSR priorities and partnered with these to develop, implement and manage programmatic and campaign initiatives.

Prior to Univision, Liliana served as senior advisor in the Office of the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the agency’s principal community advisor to the Executive Office of the President on broad ranging matters that impacted minority communities such as healthcare access, health equity, language access, data collection and disaggregation and health policy. In this role, Liliana convened a coalition of 20 national Latino organizations and an internal HHS Latino working group to develop tactical outreach plans for reaching the Latino community on the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) impacting the healthcare and lives of more than 12 million Americans.

Liliana’s nongovernmental organization expertise includes leading roles with a broad range of community partners in nationally significant matters to include pragmatic strategic planning, analysis and execution, as well as community advocacy and engagement in the areas of social justice, health, diversity in media, civic engagement and immigration. Liliana has had leading roles on issues ranging from HIV/AIDS, violence against women, minority employment in the public/private sector and political advocacy on behalf of underserved communities.
