The Legal and Regulatory Affairs department represents the interests of broadcasters before the Federal Communications Commission and other federal agencies, engaging in written and oral advocacy, building relationships with decision makers and promoting a favorable regulatory climate for broadcasting. As the advocate for the broadcast industry in legal and constitutional matters, the department leads NAB’s involvement in judicial proceedings before various federal appeals courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.
The department prepares numerous legal advisories, memos and publications for broadcasters to keep them abreast of new regulatory developments, and provides legal information to NAB members with questions through our legal hotline.
The department also supports NAB’s legislative efforts by providing counsel on and analysis of legislation, preparing letters and other advocacy documents directed to members of Congress, and drafting witness testimony for congressional hearings.
