WE ARE BROADCASTERS
Spotlighting Broadcasters' Vital Role to Members of Congress
In 2019, the We Are Broadcasters campaign entered its sixth year and continued to bring to legislators’ attention broadcasters’ vital role in our local communities as investigative journalists, first informers and innovators. Stations across the country continued to run We Are Broadcasters radio and TV spots highlighting the big difference between broadcast stations and other sources of information – when Americans seek a trusted news source they know they can always rely on local radio and television stations and their network partners. The campaign also raised awareness of policy issues, such as the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act reauthorization, that impact viewers’ ability to access their local stations for emergency information and relevant news. Stations also engaged in the campaign on social by sharing the different ways they served their communities using #WeAreBroadcasters.
