Evolving How Stations Generate Revenue
With the evolving changes to the broadcast industry, the Small Market Television Exchange (SMTE) also took the opportunity to evolve in 2019. For the first time ever, SMTE opened its doors to small and medium market stations, providing stations in markets 50+ the opportunity to discover innovative leadership and sales management strategies and walk away with creative sales promotion ideas that can increase their station’s bottom line.
The conference encouraged attendees to evolve their way of thinking and selling, starting off with an energetic keynote called “Good to Great: YOU 2.0” from sales entrepreneur Dawnna St. Louis. Featured speakers included the return of TVB’s Brad Seitter and Brian Allers and Revenue Development Resources' Mark Levy. SMTE concluded with an all-new workshop session from author Brian Moran, based on his New York Times bestseller, “The 12-Week Year.”
Between the breakout sessions and Money Makers Competition, attendees walked away with millions of dollars in revenue generation ideas to take back to their stations to implement right away.
Small Market Group Roundtable
The 2019 Small Market Group Roundtable brought together owners and operators of small market stations for discussion regarding the specific implications of legislation, policy and technology within their local markets. The agenda featured legislative and policy updates, a special session on monetizing metrics with Nielsen and Gracenote, presentations on reviving national business in small markets and a discussion on how to recruit the best talent. Through individual table topic discussions, the Roundtable also provided the unique opportunity for peers to share ideas and best practices.
