It was April 2020, just one month into the global pandemic that brought everything to a screeching halt.
I've always been the type to throw myself into work when life gets stressful and this time was no different. Except there was no work.
No more new job posts. Regular clients quiet. Projects cancelled. All of my work as a freelance video editor had dried up.
I found purpose in turning to a lifelong dream - the idea of starting my own company. I dove right in...picking colors! Jotting down ideas! Dreaming about office spaces!
But what should I name it?
I felt a substantial shift when a single word pairing stopped my brain dead in its tracks: Goldfish Theory.
I liked it. It was playful. Silly. Bright. Interesting. And dare I say it, a little mysterious. Because what is the Goldfish Theory?!
The thing about theories is they are the truest thing we know until we find something better. They change and grow as we do.
What started as a play on "the attention span of a goldfish" turned into something so much more. I started sharing with the world my own "theories" on everything that's brought me professional fulfillment and the overall happiness I have today as a small business owner.
There's nothing outwardly remarkable about my story, but looking back on it always brings back that rush of everything feeling *just right*.
This will be my first NAB and I'm on the hunt for exciting new theories.
