NAB CRYSTAL RADIO AWARD PRESENTED TO WUBE-FM LAS
VEGAS -- WUBE-FM Cincinnati today was awarded the National Association
of Broadcasters Crystal Radio Award. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio
Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round
commitment to community service. WUBE-FM
provided this description of its accomplishments in 2007: "'To
whom much is given, much is required.' John F. Kennedy was not referring
to radio when he spoke those words, but WUBE-FM relates to them in that
context. Radio is a very powerful voice. It can offend or befriend. WUBE
chooses the latter. Whether it's raising a quarter of a million dollars
for kids with cancer or donating a small stack of CDs to a local fund-raiser,
WUBE realizes it plays a significant part in making this community, this
slice of America, this world, a better place to live. There's no better
feeling than knowing you've helped a child experience a little Christmas
that he or she never dreamed of having. There's no better sight than seeing
a grief-stricken family see a ray of hope. There's no better sound than
the waves from a radio pulling a community together. Mom always said,
'If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it.' Well, WUBE's mission
is to find the good and to keep on saying it. From ownership to management,
the challenge is the same: how can we make tomorrow better than today?
The means: we've got a voice, we'll go use it!" For
more information on WUBE's accomplishments, contact James Bryant at The NAB
Radio Luncheon, sponsored by ASCAP, featured a keynote address by Robert
Pittman, MTV co-founder and former Co-COO of AOL Time Warner. During
the luncheon, Larry
Lujack, legendary Chicago radio personality, was inducted into the
NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame and
WUSL-FM
Philadelphia was given the NAB Crystal Heritage
Award for long-term commitment to community service. About
