NAB CRYSTAL RADIO AWARD PRESENTED TO WIZM-AM

LAS VEGAS -- WIZM-AM La Crosse, WI today was awarded the National Association of Broadcasters Crystal Radio Award. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service.

Ten winners were chosen from among 50 finalists. Recipients were recognized at today's NAB
Show Radio Luncheon.

WIZM-AM provided this description of its accomplishments in 2007:

"WIZM-AM has served La Crosse, Wisconsin for 85 years. A NAB Crystal Radio Award finalist in 2003 and 2006, the employee-owned station furthered its commitment to improving our community in 2007, raising over $639,000 for charitable organizations and airing $337,000 worth of PSAs to highlight their needs. In 2007, record flooding claimed lives and property. WIZM spearheaded a one-day fund-raising drive, collecting $395,256 to assist needy families. For the 17th consecutive Christmas, WIZM delivered 2,000 poinsettias to area shut-ins. WIZM employees demonstrated their compassion by again leading all area media in United Way contributions. Each week, WIZM donates two hours of air time to serve the area's largest minority population, broadcasting news and information in the Hmong language. In-depth news is the hallmark of WIZM, keeping the community informed 24 hours a day, airing news and information of concern to our listeners. Our commitment to keeping the area informed is evidenced by our five-person news department, one of Wisconsin's largest. A three-hour public affairs program begins each morning with in-depth news and newsmaker interviews. In 2007, WIZM earned two statewide news awards from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and aired one of the state's only daily radio editorials."
