NAB
CRYSTAL RADIO AWARD PRESENTED TO KSTZ-FM
LAS
VEGAS -- KSTZ-FM Des Moines today was awarded the National Association
of Broadcasters Crystal Radio Award. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio
Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round
commitment to community service.
Ten winners were chosen from among 50
finalists. Recipients were recognized at today's NAB Show Radio Luncheon.
KSTZ-FM provided this description of its accomplishments in 2007:
"KSTZ-FM may be the voice that calls people to action, but it is
their listeners in Central Iowa that hear the need and truly work the
miracles. KSTZ is constantly amazed by what can happen when they ask their
listeners to help. Whether they are donating cash, canned food, or their
time, KSTZ's listeners give time and time again. Never underestimate the
power of 'Iowans helping Iowans,' because they can get a lot done. Last
year, KSTZ and their listeners helped raise over a million dollars for
charities in their city, collected 230,000 pounds of food to feed the
hungry, saved coins for terminally ill children, fought breast cancer,
informed Iowans on the caucus for America's next president, and coached
baseball. No effort stands alone, but all totaled, it makes a difference.
KSTZ committed over 32,000 minutes of air time in 2007 to better their
community. Whether on the air or off the clock, KSTZ staffers are committed
to the community personally and professionally. Results like that are
what makes the staff at KSTZ proud to be 'Iowans helping Iowans.'"

Hall of Fame and WUSL-FM
Philadelphia was given the NAB Crystal Heritage
Award for long-term commitment to community service.
